The Tallis Scholars' recording of Victoria ‘Lamentations of Jeremiah’ has been nominated for Best Small Ensemble Performance. Recordings by The Tallis Scholars have for many years attracted awards throughout the world and also include Gramophone ‘Record of the Year’ and two Diapason d’Or de l’Année: this most recent Grammy-nomination is the second in consecutive years. The disc was made to celebrate the 400th Anniversary of the composer Tomás Luis de Victoria, who died in August 1611; the group has just finished filming a performance of Victoria's first Lamentation for Maundy Thursday (track one on the nominated disc), which will be available to view on the Gimell website during the anniversary celebrations.
The nomination in 2010 was for the recording of Josquin ‘Missa Malheur me bat’ and ‘Missa Fortuna Desparata’.
The 53rd Annual Grammy Awards will take place on 13 February 2011. http://www.grammy.com/nominees
