NCEM Composers Award shortlist announced

27 April 2012

The National Centre for Early Music has announced its shortlist for the 2012 Composer Awards, which is presented in partnership with The Tallis Scholars and BBC Radio 3.

NCEM Composers Award 2012

The entrants were asked to write a piece especially for The Tallis Scholars, drawing their inspiration from the In Nomine theme from Taverner's Missa Gloria Tibi Trinitas. The shortlisted works are to be workshopped and performed at the NCEM in York on 17 May where Peter Phillips, director of The Tallis Scholars, and the other judges (Chris Wines, Senior Music Producer, BBC Radio 3 and Delma Tomlin, Director of NCEM) will decide on the final winners.

The Tallis Scholars will then premiere the winning compositions in a concert at Durham Cathedral on 2 June, which is to be broadcast on BBC Radio 3 on The Early Music Show on 1 July.
